    Mobile app - test site?

    Hi,

We have recently purchased the vb 4.17 suite with mobile package. Because it's quite a big change, we have set up a test site first to ensure everything works smoothly before upgrading the live site.

Ideally, we would like to test the mobile app with the test site before we update the live site. . so we can 'release' them both at the same time to our users.

on the mobile app creation page, it says the licence is for mydomainname.com/forum . . but we want to test the mobile app on mydomainname.com/test/forum . I know we can change the licensed site details in our settings, but didn't want to mess anything up and give ourselves a headache when we go to change it back to mydomainname.com/forum . . .

Has anyone done anything similar or could a vb person suggest the best way of doing this?

    Thanks

    Tom

Tom - you should not have issues switching the URL / Api Key from "test" site info to "live". If you do - you can submit a ticket to the support system and we'll reset it for you.

If after we have submitted an the form for the app to be created your end, if we then test and are not happy with it, could we resubmit the application and get it recreated with new parameters (splash screen images, app descriptions etc?)

You will use the publisher to adjust the images, url, it should be automated for the most part. You will, however, need to re-sign the application using your own Mac computer, then upload it into your own iTunes account / store. But yes, you can re-adjust and republish. Please note that it takes apple up to 14 days to review an App.

but if you are just testing it first you wouldn't submit to apple you would just create a adhoc provisioning profile and sign it with that and install on your test (registered with apple) devices then once finally done testing and switch everything from test site to the normal domain location then you would then only submit it to apple for inclusion in the app store..
