Totally lost updating app on iTunes

The instructions from vB to initially upload the app do not work. When I try to create a new App ID. It says it's already in use. The only reasonable option I see on my current app is "Add Version" so that would be 1.0.1 but what do I add at the description? More importantly, how do I upload the new version on itunes? This is why I asked earlier for someone to post a step-by-step guide.

EDIT: This instructions I found make more sense but I can't find the "update" button:
    1. Visit http://itunesconnect.apple.com
    2. Click 'Manage Your Applications'
    3. Click your apps icon
    4. Click Update this application
    5. Go to Xcode and click info.plist
    6. Change version to 1.1
    7. Go back to http://itunesconnect.apple.com
    8. Fill in details
    9. Go to Xcode
    10. Build and run using a Distribution profile
    11. Upload binary to itunesconnect
    12. The review process will begin
    13. Wait for apple to review
    14. DONE

You go to itunesconnect click on your existing app then Add Version enter version number 1.0.1 the description/what's new I put in: "added new language packs" since that's all I am aware of that's new.. Then upload the new version..

No clue what all this Xcode, plist stuff is your talking about

      Thank you!

For anyone else, Go to your app on iTunes Connect and click "Add Version" then fill out the boxes. This will let you update your app. You'll get a upload binary? button then using the instructions that vB gives you scroll down to the bottom to "Signing Your App" and follow from there.

PS: somewhere after you click the upload binary button is asks you about releasing your app version I chose:
Automatically release AppName 1.0.1 once it has been approved
