    Transparent Launch Icon

How would I go about having a transparent Launch icon?

I tried to but the background ended up being black.

You need to create a transparent PNG. Here is one of many articles you can find on this:

Changing blocks of color to transparent in Photoshop is a simple process. The task is also easy in a number of alternative free and paid photo-editing programs. Setting a transparent background is common for logo files that must mesh seamlessly with a web page or document design.

On the editor it says "Required: 512px square, 72dpi, RGB, flattened, no transparency, 24bit PNG file type."

Is there any way I can edit the apk and switch the non transparent icon with a transparent one?

Oh, sorry I though you were talking about the logo,

You cannot use transparent images for the Mobile Suite.

I believe you need to resubmit the app with the new images.

But you just said it won't allow us to use transparent images in the publisher.

Yes, those are two different issues. You cannot use transparent images. This is an Apple requirement. There is no way I know of to modify that.

I plan on using a completely different icon for the apple app im not using a transparent one for it.

Im talking about the Android app. In the marketplace, most of the app icons are transparent and I would like mine to be also.

VB should allow us to submit transparent icons for the Android publisher.

You cannot use a transparent image file for that either. Sorry if that was not clear.

I was able to edit the APK using "APK Edit" and change the icon. I then tried to install it on my phone and it would not install. I later found out you have to sign the apk.....So I downloaded a program called "Auto-Sign" and it let me install on my phone but it keeps force closing.

I have the same issue with the Android app icon, and thats a problem. By submitting a square icon 512 X 512, we end up with a square icon in Android, that its well... pretty crappy. I did edit the afk file too and changed the icon, but the app must be signed to be added to the market or else it wont accept it. We must find a workaround with this, so we can design beautiful icons for our apps.

We don't support modifying the APK file. Sorry. You can open an issue in Jira to have the way images are handled for different OSes changed.
