Be ready to spend more than the 99.00

something i did not realize before making the purchase and thought i would let everyone else know before they fall into the trap as well is that you have to pay 25.00 for android and 99.00 to apple to become a developer

Thought this might be good to know for everyone before buying

You are right, this information should be provided when buying the app, not every user is collecting all informations in this forum.

Be sure to list your app on the Amazon App Store as well!

You have to check the check-box before making the purchase that says you acknowledge that fact.

Amazon has some pretty onerous terms in their store if you want to sell your app. You agree that Amazon will always be the lowest price and it must be the historic lowest price. This means if you normally sell your app for $1.99 but decide to have a free promotion on iTunes, then it must forever be free on Amazon after that. Amazon also collects up to 70% of app proceeds from the owner.

It is an option though. Just don't think they are more developer friendly than either Google or Apple.

Aside from already letting you know that you need the developer accounts, we don't provide the cost because pricing may change in the future.

I acknowledge that in order to have my mobiles application public on the iTunes store and Android marketplace an IOS developer account, Android developer account and access to an apple computer running Snow Leopard or newer is required. Apple Store and Android Marketplace require a additional fee for creating a developer account.

The last sentence is missing, the thread opener will not be the last one complaining about this.

The phrase is being updated as far as I am aware. However the disclaimer currently has links for the words "IOS developer account" and "Android developer account" that link directly to those programs and show the cost of those programs on the respective pages. Purchasers should follow those links to understand what they are agreeing to before they purchase.

Sure, you're right Wayne but you know well how people attention sometimes is. Some will even not recognize big red letters.

                            You dont need to.
iOs app: it can be hosted on Cydia, wether app is free or paid.
android: you can put the APK files on direct download on your site. No need to submit them to google's marketplace. you could keep a public one and another one accessible to only your premium members for example.

No extra cost, as you see.
Additionally, if you already had upload accounts for either official marketplaces, you dont exactly need to spend anything extra either, especially since the same account can be used to submit as many apps you wish.

Both of these options will create additional headaches for administrators. While available to them, they aren't recommended.. Very few iOS users have access to Cydia as it requires jailbreaking the device and voiding the warranty. Many carriers prevent sideloading Apps on Android. If the carrier has prevented Sideloading, then hosting the APK on your site would not work either. Even if a carrier allows sideloading, it is most likely disabled by default and the Forum Administrator would have to provide instructions to turn it on.
