Help with ,htaccess re-directs after import?

I know there is a mod to do dynamic redirects over on VB.org, but I've asked for help over there and after several weeks, have no answers so I've decided to try just using .htaccess to do permanent re-direcs of old thread / post links to the new forum. I'm not going to try to re-direct the old threads to the exact same thread (I know that would be ideal). Instead, What I want to do is re-direct any old thread to just re-direct to my new forum main page. For example, say Google has a link to an old thread like this:

http://www.example.com/forum/ubbthre...ist#Post879358 (I'm using "spider friendly" URLs).

and I want any link that looks like http://www.example.com/forum/ubbthre...pics/879358*** to just re-direct to my main (new) forum page:

How would I make that as a permanent re-direct in .htaccess?

The place to ask for help with writing custom code (including an .htaccess file) is over on vbulletin.org, not here.

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.
