Reimporting old forum database

I have gone through the impex once, with success, however, I want to reimport all of the data from my old site.

Is my best approach here to just do a complete clean of all of the current data and start fresh, or is there a better way to import the new data, since the last import.

Impex only does whole imports, assuming you made sure to finalize the old import, all of the old data would get imported a second time.
