Migrating PHPBB3 Passwords to VB Publishing Suite 4.1.1

I've heard that after using Impex to import phpbb3 to VB Suite 4.1.1, Member passwords will not transfer over and work.

That Members will need to use the "Send New Password" function on VB after import?

Could someone please clarify if this is true - and if it's not, then how should Passwords be properly migrated?

it is true, the hashing methods used by vBulletin and phpbb3 are incompatable.
