Problems importing from IPB 2.3.6 to vB 3.8.2

    Good morning all,

I've been running an IPB board for a little while now on a different project (long time vB license holder, several other vB communities under my belt) and have decided to switch it over to vB instead.

The process for this migration has been as follows:

    • Existing IPB database called sitename_forum

    • New vB database called sitename_vbulletin

    • Uploaded vBulletin files and ran the installer. Verified to work.

    • Confirmed that the IPB installation still works.

    • Configured and uploaded IMPEX. Executed it from the vB AdminCP

    • Everything appears to work except that forums, threads and posts are not showing up inside of vBulletin.

    • No errors inside the IMPEX. It looks exactly as if it worked! The forums, threads and posts just don't show up when you log into vB and look for them either inside the forum or inside the AdminCP.

Thoughts as to what's going on here?

Nevermind! It just occurred to me as I was typing that out, that the last thing that needs to be done (and which is omitted from the documentation) is to update all of the counters inside of the vB AdminCP and then optimize the tables for good measure.

I did those two things and it worked.

It would be nice if that was the last step inside the IMPEX module!

Which is on every ImpEx menu page at the bottom :

"Once you have finished these modules follow these instructions to complete the import"
      I wrote ImpEx.
