Remove links from quote tags

I just did a partial import moving select threads from one forum to another.

since not all threads were moved, the links in quotes are not valid.

I'm trying to figure out how to use the cleaner to remove the links from the BB code.

Examples:

Replace these:

[quote=BMW doc;7072297]
[quote=Tom_brown;32297]

with these:

[quote=BMW doc]
[quote=Tom_brown]

Any help is appreciated

ok I've tried a bunch of things and everything I try ends up clearing the entire contents of the post

  $text = preg_replace('#\[quote=(.*)\;(.*)\](.*)\[/quote\]#siU', '[quote=$1]$3[/quote]', $text); 

That is the lastest one I've tried, and I just can't get this to work.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Set this in cleaner.php

$do_posts             = false;
$do_sigs               = true;
$do_thread_titles   = false;
$do_pm_text         = false;
$do_pm_text_title  = false; 

And try this :

$moo = preg_replace('#\[quote=(.*);(.*)\](.*)\[/quote\]#siU', '[quote=$1]$3[/quote]', $moo);

Thanks for the help.

I'm a bit confused. I'm trying to update the post, not the signatures.
So I'm not sure where to put the $moo = statement as I see nothing in the cleaner file using $moo

Where should the $moo statement be placed in cleaner?

lol, my bad it's a var I was using here to test it.

Use

$text 

and replace line 98 (or so) in cleaner.php which currently is :

#$text = preg_replace('##siU', '', $text); 

and set the true for posts and false for sigs.
