    Reducing time on import

    Hi,

I am doing an import from phpbb2 to vb3.07. As the domain name is changed, I have to do an import of the old phpbb db via Cpanel to the new domain.

The restore db process is taking very long that it hang my system while I was in the process. Are there any way I can reduce the db before uploading for the import?

Or are there more straightforward ways of doing it

    Would appreciate any help.

    Thanks!

I don't know anything about reducing the size off a phpBB backup. The only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. Please see the instructions here:

No shell access for me though. Thanks for the reply, I would have to do it the long way.

If you can grant remote access on the source database you could do the import remotly, though that would be a last option.
