    DCForum V. 6.23 to Vbulletin 3.07

    Good Morning Guys,

I am helping a friend setup vbulletin as his new forum script. He will be purchasing a copy over the next week or so. Currently he is running DCForum Version 6.23 (http://www.dcscripts.com/) as his forum script and has an exisiting database that I will attempt to export and import into his licensed copy of VB. I have read a few posts and am still not to clear on how to exactly carry this operation out.

VBTeam, Please could you advise on exactly how this can be achieved?

    Regards,

    M

Hi Jerry from what I can tell it is just plain and straight DCforum 6.23 and not the plus version. In other words the flat file version.

There is no flat file importer for DCF, the two options are importing into vB2 with the vB2 importers or converting the DCF board to DCF+ with a tool I belive DCF have.

            Ok - that makes sense.

Obviously I don't want to incur any additional costs than I have to for my friend. I have noticed that DCforum gives you an option to upgrade to DCforum+ for a fee. I would rather go the VB2 option. When my mate buys vb3 does he have the option to download VB2? If I do go this option, how do I go about it? How do I import DC database into vb 2 (which version of VB are we talking here?)

I'm in Vancouver so on PST.

vBulletin2 is in the members are and the importers come with it in the download.

Install vBulletin 2, import into that then upgrade to vBulletin 3.

Its a bit of a long route, though the other option opposed to doing the DCF+ upgrade.

Put it in a dir some where that your webserver can get to it then when running the vBulletin 2 importer you'll need the path to that folder as it will ask for it.

                      i.e. /home/marula/www/old_DCF/

                          Hi Jerry,

Once I've copied the VB2.3.6 and the DCforum into it's relevent folder. Which upgrade script do I run?

Right I have tried many times now and all goes well except:

one particular forum just refuses to import the posts and threads. Initially when I 1st started importing - it wouldn't import any forums. then I renamed the folders from DCForumID1, DCForumID2 etc to Censored1, Censored1 - the reason I did this is because that one forum that wasn't named DCForumID*** showed up during the BBimport process and suggested it wanted all those other forums to have the same name as the 1 forum ie. Censored***.

I have tried so many different ways and it just won't import that 1 forums threads...any ideas?
