    Problem setting values in ImpExConfig.php

    I took the plunge and I'm a certified vBulletin owner.

    I was able to install the board, but I'm having trouble configuring the Imp/Ex config.php

    Any suggestions would be appreciated. Here's the error:
    Database error in vBulletin:ImpEx Target 3.0.3:

    Link-ID == false, connect failed
    mysql error:

    mysql error number: 0

    Date: Saturday 21st of August 2004 05:22:24 PM
    Script: http://www.everythingtreo.com/board/impex/index.php
    Referer: http://www.everythingtreo.com/board...ndex.php?do=nav
    Username: chris
    IP Address: 24.186.93.162

    My config.php looks like this:
    targetdatabasetype = mysql
    targetserver = mysql10.siteprotect.com
    targetuser = chris
    targetpassword = xxxxxx
    targetdatabase = vbulletin_forum
    targettableprefix =

    [ Source Database ]
    ; If the system that is being imported from uses a database,
    ; enter the details for it here and set 'sourceexists' to TRUE.
    ; If the source data is NOT stored in a database, set 'sourceexists' to FALSE

    sourceexists = TRUE

    sourcedatabasetype = mysql
    sourceserver = mysql10.siteprotect.com
    sourceuser = everything
    sourcepassword = xxxxxx
    sourcedatabase = everything
    sourcetableprefix = ibf_

    Somthing in your imex config file is off if you are getting that error.

        Just double check your impex config file, check for miss spellings or anything of the like. why not just use localhost for both of the target servers?

          I've tried a million different configurations and I'm not clear.

          The target db username...is that the username and password for the mySQL db or for vBulletin. Same goes for the source. I'm very confused.

          I tried localhost on both servers and no go.

            I'm still stuck. I have two Invision Board db's (1.3 and 2.0). I'm travelling for business tomorrow, so would love to get this fixed today.

            Any suggestions would be helpful.

            I've tried all types of configurations.

              I responded to your support ticket. This error means that either the db info in your config file is wrong, or one of the MySQL servers cannot be connected to.

                target database is your vBulletin database
                source database is your database you are importing from.

                Is it possible to assign both databases the same user and password?

                  I know you already working on vb and ib but just incase you missed it in here...

                  Maybe like most hosts prefix your database names with the site's name
                  in that case database user name will also have the same

                  for me I create a database named vbullein and it changes name to MYSITE'sName_vbulletin so does my user name

                  like this

                  SiteName_databasename
                  SiteName_username
                  password

                  and if both dbs are on same server why using different user names?
                  To be or not to be... Where the hell is the question????
                  My psychiatrist told me I was crazy and I said I want a second opinion. He said okay, you're ugly too

                    Because you might have different permissions with different users for different applications.
                    I wrote ImpEx.
