    UBB import questions

I purchased and successfully installed VB3.01 and have the forum working, I went through the process of uploading and installing the impex module and it seems to have imported most of the users, styles, Forums, threads, and posts but I must be missing something because I can't seem to be able to get them to display anywhere.
I have been searching the forums and documentation to see how to do this. Where did I go wrong.

    Thanks

select the default vB style and see what happens, seems like style issues unless i completely misread your post.
Unlike most, I don't think I'm always right, if I'm wrong, CORRECT me.... providing you have some evidence

Tried that. unless I'm missing another place to do that.

      The VB is here.

It should have several thousand posts.

It appears most of the member data come over and imported correctly.

Note: the above link no longer works. (dns settings being replicated)

You need to update all the counters:

Admin CP -> Import & Maintenance -> Update Counters

Change CKEditor Colors to Match Style (for 4.1.4 and above)

I thought I did that but will do it again.

Maybe I didn't state my question correctly.

The UBB board I tried to import had 4 or 5 catagories and 14 forums.

After I imported the user information, I tried to import the rest of the content

The importer reported progress that included styles, forums, threads and posts but when I go to the actual forum, all I see is the main forum. (forum id1 and forum id2)

I'm wondering if something else is missing.

The UBB content I'm trying to import was from a "crashed" system so. Is this part of the problem?

          Thanks.

This is a rather important piece of information. If the data being imported was bad, then it could very well explain this problem.

from the sounds of it the categories and forums didn't import, but can you view the posts if you link to them directly?

After digging around for a while, I noticed that there was an error I missed.

It looks like the import files for ubb are looking for "catagories.file" Maybe an older version of UBB.Classic used this format but ubb 6.7.1 uses "vars_cats.cgi" I fixed this and the error in the path's list is now fixed.

Is there a way to wipe the database and start from scratch without reloading the vbulletin board. I think I might have a complete working version of the ubb now too.

                  Thanks.

You can run install.php again and choose to have it clear the database.

                      Thanks for the hints Steve.

                      Steps taken so far.

Got the UBB.classic board working correctly. - OK

                      Re-install vb3 - ok

                      run admin control panel
                      open Maint-import
                      run Impex module
Select module 1, (this is the one I had to modify to process catagories)
Fill out fields and run. No errors

                      Select Import users - ok

                      Import styles, OK

                      Import Forums, OK

                      update counters

                      repair/optimize tables

                      import threads - ok

Import posts -started, this took almost 3 hours last time. Going to sleep.

                      to be continued...

                        Next update.

So far I have not had any luck getting the imported catagories and forums to appear anywhere. I know the system knows they are there because when I create a new "forum" catagory the Forum ID is up above id: 18 which tells me forum id : 2-17 have reserved space in the database.

If I try to display the forum via the ID directly I still can not see them.

I'm re'indexing the whole database now and I have updated the DNS settings in the internet so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction soon.

                        Thanks

                        Dave

I did update all the counters.

Do you have a link to the UBB forums that aren't showing up after the import?

most of the links probably don't work externally as I configured them as an internal just to get the system working and try to import it.

Everything internally (non NAT IP's) works fine.
