I lease my own server. When I go into the AdminCP and go to the Facebook setup it says "Supported". I have a self-signed cert installed, but not a purchased cert, like GEO. Will this still work, or will FB require be to purchase and install and store-bought security Cert?

What you see in the AdminCP refers to Facebook Connect support.
Whether your shared SSL cert will work for the Facebook App is another matter.My Live vB5 Site - NZEating.com

Shared SSL won't normally work but it shouldn't cost too much to get a domain/IP specific certificate for use on your site.Comment

I have been reluctant to setup facebook logins on my forum, however, my users are requesting this. I setup my facebook info a while ago so I plugged the info in on my 5.1.6 test install and logins work... -
