    Facebook App: Why?

Can someone explain what the Facebook App does and why its beneficial? All of the example apps that I clicked on display an FB violation when I refuse to share my information and the VB example says its an invalid URL. Also, how is the personal account used to create the app id and secret related to the app? Is the app tied to that account indefinitely?
    Thanks,
    Vincent

The VB example doesn't work because the FB App isn't yet compatible with VB5. It works with VB 4.x and VB 3.x.

The basic premise of the app is to allow Facebook users to browse and post on your forum without ever leaving Facebook. It basically puts your forum in a custom skin inside Facebook.

Your Facebook Account must be used to create a "Facebook App" and yes once the app is created it is married to your personal account. You would need to remove/delete the app to assosciate it with a different account later.
