I am running 4.2.5 and I have the desktop version of my site as my default for users. When the user selects mobile view on a desktop browser it keeps this setting till i switch back to the desktop version of the forum. When I am on a mobile it seems to only keep this setting for a single page view and when I click on any link i go back to my default theme. Why on my mobile device is the theme option not sticking?

If the user selects a new Style from the selection drop down in the footer, it will write a cookie to the user's machine. This cookie will overwrite the default selection or the style chosen in the User Settings until it is deleted or the user updates their settings.
If your mobile device doesn't maintain the cookie (for whatever reason) then it will switch back to the default on the next page load. vBulletin 4 attempts to determine if you're using a mobile device based on the information it sends in the request headers. The information that vB4 is looking for hasn't really changed much in many years so many current devices probably aren't sending the correct information. With vBulletin 5, we've changed this to a more modern approach. We don't have a "Mobile Style" instead the same style is used by mobiles, tablets, and PCs. We switch how things are displayed based on the reported screen dimensions, not the type of device. This provides a more reliable experience across all devices.Translations provided by Google.

I am assuming you are using responsive design on the new version.. Yeah I am assuming that is how it worked but I cannot figure out why on my desktop it sets and respects the cookie but on my mobile device it sets it then over writes it each time. Is there a setting to say use this style if you are a mobile device? Maybe for some reason it is detecting it is a mobile device but applying the wrong style to it?
The site is http://pokerforum.ca if you want to have a look yourself to see what behavior it gives you. I have a few users stating that it is giving them the same behavior! It did not do this saposidly in 4.2.3 just since i upgraded to 4.2.5Comment

There is a Mobile Device Style setting under Settings -> Options -> Style & Language Options. The Cookie if it exists will overwrite this it exists and you allow users to change styles.Translations provided by Google.

I finally figured this one out. The old site was www.pokerforum.ca the new site was using pokerforum.ca so I had cookies set for both sites on my machine and it seems like they were fighting each other. I wiped out all cookies for the domains and it seems to be working now! Thanks for your help!
Maybe the server should check for both these cookies when setting to avoid this in the future when some one goes from domain.com to www.domain.com or vise versa?Comment

Ina any event, vB4 is now end of life from a deveopment perspective meaning no further changes to it are planned.
vB5 uses a completely different method of delivering styles in a mobile-friendly way.MARK.B

Problem with a responsive only style is that it does not allow for things like dark themes and light themes not unless you can do responsive and styles for this exact point!Comment

Responsive Styles can support all color variations. We offer 19 different Styles on this site. 17 come with with vBulletin 5. There is also a dark theme.Translations provided by Google.

by FulciHi guys,
I'm running into an issue with the mobile view of my forums. I've read all of the documentation, and I see that there's supposed to be a dropdown in the style options in the admincp...-
