Is it possible to hide User Profile by User Group?

When a user is banned, or becomes a former member, their User Group gets changed.

I would like to know how I can remove (or redirect) the link to the User Profile from their name. So that when viewing a thread, a registered user can't click on the name of a former member or a banned member and see their profile information.

I'm using vBulletin 4.2.5 and postbit_legacy. "Former Member" is a custom user group for people who have left.
