  • [Forum] Need to export one row from user table: SQL

    Yet another GDPR issue.

A user demands a record of his data under the GDPR.

I want to do an export of the data for just that one user from the user table.

What is the SQL to do that?

    Figured it out.

    Just go to phpMyAdmin.

    Select the user table.

    Execute SELECT * FROM `user` WHERE user.username='usernameinquestion'

That will bring up one record.

Click on Export and choose the format.

    Save file.

    Done.

The problem is if they want 'all their data' it's not all in the user table. PMs, posts etc need to be considered as well, if that's relevant.

Since posts are on public display and can be viewed by them or anyone else at the site, and PMs similarly can be viewed from the user profile, I would think that's not needed but I guess I'll find out.

At this point, I'm trying to satisfy what in reality is a vexatious and frivolous request under the GDPR by a troll. If he requests more, I can export that additional information too I guess.

The user already has access to "all his personal data" because you're not keeping any data the user can't view for himself. Troll is an accurate description.

Well except arguably IP addresses but I don't disagree. Forums are pretty transparent in that regard. Most of the information is in his profile which he can already see or in public posts. He is just doing his best to be a PITA.

I already banned him. Now I'm just doing what I need to to satisfy the GDPR request.
