Question on my Journey (mySQL) from 4.2.2 PL6 to 4.2.5

Hello Everyone

I am trying to get to vBulletin 4.2.5. I am currently on my existing site running 4.2.2 PL6 and mySQL

5.0.96-community and PHP 5.6.31 Question, can I safely upgrade mySQL to 5.6 with the host and not break the existing 4.2.2 install? I need to do that prior to running the routine to upgrade to 4.2.5 for vbulletin Thanks David

You should be able to safely upgrade MySQL. I suggest creating database backups before you perform this task though. I would also recommend upgrading to MySQL 5.7.

ok, so follow-up question, I got mySQL upgraded to 5.6.34 for now, which I think will support the vBulletin upgrade to 4.2.5 Is there anything else I need to do, such as in the config.php or install.php when I run the upgrade script to tell it to ignore errors or just run as is after downloading from the member area? Thanks again everyone in advance for the help.

You shouldn't have to make any changes to the files. Overwrite your old files with the new ones and run upgrade.php in your browser.
