    Forum Sidebar & Blocks

Hello. I'd like to add some of the "Forum Sidebar & Block" features to my website.

I followed what I thought was the correct procedure to "Add new block"...but when done...nothing was showing up on my site. I definitely have "Yes" checked to enable the blocks...and it's been about 10+ hours since I created the "Activity Stream" block...and nothing showing up.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Go to AdminCP > Maintenance > General Update Tools > Rebuild Activity Stream

Thanks Mark. I did as advised (Rebuild Activity Stream)...and also cleared the system cache in case that would help...but still seeing nothing. Basically I'm not seeing any sort sidebar or block at all. Not even an empty sidebar/block.

So far I've created one sidebar/block (Activity Stream). I've included a screenshot of the settings for the Activity Stream sidebar/block...in case I did something incorrectly.

      Thanks

Do you actually have posts from the past 24 hours?

Yes my site has plenty of traffic & new posts each 24 hours.

Also just for the heck of it...I also tried adjusting the "Date Filter" to "Last 7 Days" and that didn't help either.

Don't know if it means anything...but I'm not seeing any sidebar/block at all. Didn't know if an empty sidebar/block should show up...even if it wasn't filling with data.

          Thanks

It won't show until there's something in it.

Can you please try it in a new default style? As it's possible your custom style hasn't been build to include the sidebar. I've seen that happen a few times.
Also go to AdminCP > Maintenance > Clear System Cache to clear the cache.

If there's still nothing, we'll need a support ticket with admincp credentials so we can take a look at your set up, as this works ok in a default installation.

Yes my site is running a custom style. I think that considering the volume of regular visitors my site has each day...I would have to announce to the membership that the site will be undergoing some maintenance...and put the site into maintenance mode before switching to a default style. Does this sound like the best way to do it?

Will switching to a default style temporarily to test things...and then switching back to the regular custom style mess anything up (settings, advertising, etc.)?

I did this previously...unless you mean clear the system cache after switching to the default style.

              Thanks

Just switch your own admin account to a default style. If there isn't already one there, create one in the style manager by making a new style with no parent.
