  • [Forum] RSS feeds stopped working properly

    RSS feeds stopped working recently. I have not touch any setting but recently the RSS feeds stopped working properly. This has been working for many years now without any issues.
    My RSS feeds use to get sent to a forum. When users clicked on the RSS feed in the forum thread it would take them to the actual RSS feed.

    Now when they click on the RSS feed in the thread this is the link it sends them to;
    https://news.google.com/?sa=t&fd=R&c...=US&ceid=US:en

    I believe it is supposed to drop the google news in the first part of the url and just use the http://www.norwichbulletin.com/news/...=US&ceid=US:en.

    All my old RSS feed from that past no longer work either. Did something change that would cause this?

    Has anyone else experienced this or know how to fix this?

    If your feeds are all from Google, then yes - something is changing or has changed on Google's end.

    See:

    Google News to deprecate old RSS feed URLs on December 1, 2017 - Search Engine Land

    To update your RSS feeds, you need to go to https://news.google.com and select the section you want or create a custom section. At the bottom of the section's page, click RSS. This will make the feed appear. Copy the URL from the address bar to get the new URL for the RSS feed. Nov 3, 2017
    An update to RSS Feeds - Google Product Forums

    We are making some necessary improvements to our system that powers RSS feeds. As a result of this update, the Google News RSS URL pattern is changing. In order to continue getting RSS feeds on your websites, please follow these instructions:

    On a computer, go to https://news.google.com and select the section you want or create a custom section. At the bottom of the sectionís page, click RSS. This will make the feed appear. Copy the URL from the address bar to get the new URL for the RSS feed.
    The bad news is that all the instructions tell you to look for "RSS" at the bottom of a topic at https://news.google.com but I don't see that option there.
