I am setting up on a new cPanel server and am having very odd login behavior in vBulletin. Specifically, when I log in I get the thank you for logging in message, then the home page displays again as though I am not logged in. I can try logging in multiple times with no change. However, if I hit the refresh button the page shows I am logged in. I can log out, then when I try and log back in it works as expected. Another variation is if I open another tab and visit Yahoo for example, close the vBulletin tab, then open a new tab with the address to my site it shows me logged in. Very confusing...
I have cleared set the cookies, disabled all plugins via the config.php, created a new default style sheet with no customizations of templates and set it as the default, deleted everything under vb directory and installed from virgin code and still no luck. I read so many threads on the subject without resolution.
This problem seems to have started when I followed the cPanel security recommendations to enable jailed apache and jailed users, but I have disabled those changes and the problem still exists. The other options I was running was the Engintron nginx reverse proxy and PHP-FPM.
If I disable PHP-FPM login works as expected. Is there a compatibility problem with PHP-FPM? If there is what FastCGI processor can I load into cPanel for my site that will work? The thing is it was working for several days until I enabled the jailed apache and jailed users.
