    vB 4.2.5 Control Panel and PHP 7.0 error

    I have set my web hosting to PHP 7.0 to hopefully facilitate a smooth transition to vB5.4.1

    When I go into the Control Panel, I get the following error :

    syntax error, unexpected '<', expecting end of file on line 1 in /home/mocgb10/public_html/forums/admincp-mark112/index.php(904) : eval()'d code
    #0 {main}

    What I see is the Welcome panel on the main screen, where you can see the Server Type, Data Usage and any Users to Moderate.

    If I switch it back to 5.6, the Control Panel displays normally.

    I cannot go to PHP 7.1 or PHP 7.2 , as my Joomla installation does not appear to be compatible on the main website.

    Is there any way I can get vB4.2.5 working with PHP 7.0 ?

    Thanks
    Mark

    Looks like an add-on of some sort. In which case it won't affect vB56 as no vB4 add-ons are compatible.

    As an aside, be aware that vB5 doesn't support changing the location of the admincp folder, so you'll need to have it back to /admincp.

    Before upgrading, the best way to prepare is to set up a private test copy of the site first, using its own files and copy of the database, and upgrade that initially.
