    Regarding vBulletin 4.2.5 and Paypal

I know there are other topics regarding this, but I'm running 4.2.5 and using PayPal to accept payments for Paid Subscriptions. I did not believe this was an issue as I believe it was fixed in 4.2.5, but I received the following from PayPal back in late December. Is there any action required on our end? (Edit: I should add that I don't have IPN enabled and never have.)

Are you running your site under HTTPS? If not, you'll need to buy a certificate and switch to HTTPS. This is mostly server configuration and outside the scope of support. To switch vBulletin to HTTPS follow the steps here: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/arti...forum-to-https

No, not running on HTTPS currently. If I am not using IPN, do I still need to switch to HTTPS?

You will most likely need to change. That is the focus that the web is moving to these days. You'll even take a hit in search engine rankings if you're not using HTTPS.

Understood on that. Am planning to change. Just curious if you're saying I need to change because of the issue I referenced or just that it's a good idea in general. I was a bit confused by the PayPal email considering I am not using IPN.

vBulletin uses IPN. That is how it communicates with Paypal.

You dont actually need to be running https on your site to use paypal IPN.
The only requirement they impose is that the callbacks from you to them are done via https, the latest vb3 and vb4 already do that.
