    RSS Feed: XML Error

I am getting this error when running a feed in the RSS feed Manager: XML Error: Attribute without value at Line 18

The feed is from Wordpress blog and I had this working before: http://saabworld.org/feed

Searching for the error didn't get any results. I tried disabling the plugin/hook system in vB but same error. The site is on version 4.2.3. I have a Mailchimp mailing list using the same RSS feed and that works fine.

Not sure where to start troubleshooting this error so hopefully someone can offer assistance. Greatly appreciated!

This isn't a vBulletin issue. The RSS is malformed and causing an error while being parsed. You would need to contact that site. They just upgraded to Wordpress 4.8 so there could be a bug in the generated feed.

That's my site. I got the error on both WP 4.7 and 4.8. You would think it shouldn't be an issue with the largest blogging platform. I have a feeling WP will say it is a vBulletin issue as the feed seems to be working fine with Mailchimp and in Mozilla Thunderbird - Blogs and Newsfeeds.

With vBulletin, the RSS feed functionality hasn't changed much over the years. Line 18 is this line:
        <sy:updateFrequency>1</sy:updateFrequency>

That isn't a field we use so it should just be skipped. It shouldn't cause an error.

I tested your feed on vBulletin 4.2.5 and 5.3.1 without errors.

What version of PHP are you using?

Thanks for testing that Wayne, really appreciate your help with this. The site is on php version 5.4 which sounds rather old. I see vB 4.2.5 is compatible with php 7.

Should I first upgrade the software from 4.2.3 to 4.2.5 while on php 5.4 and then change the php version to 7.1? Or the other way around?

You must do them one after the other, generally its better to upgrade php, and then vbulletin, but once you do one, you will have issues until you complete the other.
