vB 4.2.3 "Parse links in text" only working on edits

"Parse links in text" does not seem to be working for new posts, however it works fine once a post is edited. I have tried upgrading PHP to 5.6 as suggested elsewhere, no change. Any clues as to how to fix this?

The version of PHP would not make any difference, I have no idea who would suggest that.

In fact, for php 5.6 I would advise moving to 4.2.4, or better still 4.2.5.

Are you certain users are entering URLs directly into the vBulletin editor?

I know on my site some users who enter URLs using Tapatalk, the URLs post as plain text and I have to edit and re-save the page to get the links to become active hyper-links.

If you're sure they are posting into vBulletin directly, try disabling hooks and see if that resolves the issue, sounds like it would be a plugin issue.
