two forums under one domain

I have one forum under XXXXX.com domain and the second ( diff license) under xxxxx.com/xxxforum. Users cannot be logged in both forums at the same time. this was not an issue until I upgraded the .com/xxxforum to 4.23, which is the same version at the xxxxx.com forum. hope that makes sense. Looking for ideas why this changed and what I can do to fix it.

If you have two forums under one domain you need to have different cookie prefixes (set in the config.php file) and also have a cookie path set in the admincp.

My suspicion is you've changed the config files and carried the previous cookie prefix settings over.
