Can VB 4.x use MySQL 5.7?

I'm currently on MySQL 5.5, but really need to upgrade. Can I?

    Thanks!

Why do you 'really need' to upgrade ?

There are a couple of minor issues that we fixed in 4.2.4, I dont think either would actually break the site.

Unfortunately, MySQL 5.5 has some issues that upgrading to 5.7 would correct. This according to my admin guy. To be honest, I had wanted to upgrade VB itself to version 5, and actually paid for that product within a couple days of its release. However, once I read about all the problems that release had, the buyout of JelSoft and the removal/departure of the original product design team, I never downloaded the product nor attempted to install. I could probably convince myself to upgrade to the last version of 4.x though.

What are the 'issues' though? There are no issues running vB4.2 on MySQL 5.5. Just because someone says 'there are some issues', doesn't mean there are.

Some performance issues according to my admin guy. Too many SQL connections, dropped connections, and a few other things. My site is very high volume. We just installed a new Dell 710 server, fully stuffed, and are having some teething issues I think.

Sorry, but thats all very vague, and the one specific thing you mentioned (too many connections) wont be solved by moving from 5.5.to 5.7.

I know that. What would stop that?
