too many redirect error by fconnect in vb 4

    Hello,

I am not able to open my website (www.medicalgeek.com ) after clicking on fconnect login button in firefox, if i delete cookies i can open, but again i can not login, after clicking on fconnect login , it is redirecting to "problem loading page with following error"

Previously it was not even allowing to login manually and redirecting to following in firefox but after i deleted all cookies and cache, i am able to login manually but not with fconnect.

showing following error in google chrome
    " The www.facebook.com page isn’t working

www.facebook.com redirected you too many times.
    ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS"
    Error in firefox
    "The page isn’t redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

fconnect? Do you mean Facebook Connect?

    fconnect is something completely different.

This is interesting. My site is experiencing the same problem as of this morning (Aug/10/2016)! I am currently in the same position, managing to log in after clearing cookies and turning off facebook has solved the problem, but it would be nice to fix it and turn it back on. I am running 4.2.2 Patch Level 4.

First you should patch right now to 4.2.2 Patch Level 6!

Then upgrade to 4.2.3 to resolve the Facebook issue or leave Facebook Connect disabled.
          this is my sig

I have vb4.2.3 and still got the same issue.

It looks like Facebook made changes in their API in the last 24 hours, so maybe this caused the problem.

Had the same thing happen to me and it was a pain to get back on to even disable it. Is there a fix for this yet? Is it something on Facebook's end?

Facebook in vB4 is gradually breaking. Facebook keep on making multiple changes, and as vB4 is no longer under active development (other than php compatibility and security updates), we took the decision a while ago that we were not going to keep trying to play catchup on it. There isn't the development time available.

We try to keep vB5 up to date with Facebook's changes, but even that is getting harder and harder as they seem to make changes almost on the fly.

The only solution in vB4 at the moment is to disable Facebook Connect entirely I'm afraid. or pay a third party coder to update it.

I'm interested in contributing to an effort to get a fix for this.

Best option would be to post on www.vbulletin.org, the modification site. Nothing official will happen regarding this.

There is a paid requests forum there. It shouldn't be that big a job, the issue is that every few months it'll need doing again because Facebook keep moving the goalposts.

Please help I cannot get into my control panel to turn off the Facebook connection. I keep getting the redirect error from above. Thus no one can connect to my forums.
