    [Forum] Can't log in

Overnight, something seems to have happened to one of my forums. I can't log on to the public forum. I fill in my user name, password, and when clicking "log in" the screen refreshes and the log in fields are blank. I can try again typing in a bogus password and get the same result - I don't get the incorrect password screen. I can log into the admin control panel, but not in the forum. What do you think happened? Any ideas?

It's not a browser issue - some thing happens in Chrome and Firefox. Cleared system cache as well.

if the page refresh many times after login (or something similar at what you report, also after cache cleaned), at this same problem the solution was to disable dst settings for this user in vB5

Can staff member help here? That would be great. Thanks! Still can't log in - nor anyone else.

Seriously - nothing? Hey vBulletin - I've been a customer for nearly thirteen years with several licenses. How about a little help here? Thank you.

Just to post further information. This is a new forum - I have no extraneous plugins or hacks. Also, I can log into the admin control panel, and I stay logged in when clicking the upper right hand link "Forum Home Page".

Has an administrator read this thread? What do I need to do to get some help here?

                  1. vBulletin Version (vBulletin 4.2.3)
                  2. PHP Version 5.4.34
                  3. MySQL Version 5.5.46-log
                  4. Any Addons installed- no
                  5. Does the issue occur in a default style? - yes
                  6. Error message on the screen' - no error message. No one can log in.
                  7. Browser and Browser version used. Firefox 42.0, Chrome 47.0.2526.106 m
                  8. A list of steps that can be used to recreate the issue. Log in with user name and password. The screen refreshes and you are not logged in. Enter a false password and this has the same effect. There is no "you have entered a false password..." message. But you can log on to the admin control panel and enter the forum via the upper right link.

So - some help would be appreciated - thanks!

This is becoming ridiculous. Where is the support one is expected to receive here? No one has a clue, not even the admin/technicians?

                        It's set at default "/"

I switched it to "forums" but that didn't have any effect.

Try using /forums/forum but make sure you have a copy of tools.php handy. Typically login issues are related to cookie settings but without actually seeing the issue firsthand I'm only guessing.

You might also want to try turning on debug mode to see if you're getting any error messages specific to logging in / attempting to log in.

Add the following line to your config.php file right below the <?php tag:

                          $config
                          ['Misc']['debug'] = true;

Tickets take priority so we're focussed on those as a primary support channel - if you'd raised a ticket then we could have helped quicker...

Thanks - I have now just submitted a support ticket. But you'd have to admit that it's rather disappointing that no staff member has responded to this thread. It's nearly two weeks old, and I still can't log in. I have been a member of this forum for over a decade, and have always relied on an informed staff to help resolve issues. I hope that the support ticket is dealt with quickly. Thanks!
