It's not officially supported in vB4 but it should work.
Official support is coming to vB5 though as I understand things.MARK.B

For normal operation, yes it will.
If you have MariaDB 10+ then there are a couple of bits in the ACP diagnostics and display that get disabled.Baby, I was born this wayComment

We run MariaDB with no issues at all (except it is faster than MySQL )
We have changed to a combination of InnoDB/XtraDB and Aria tables (Aria to replace MyISAM and you get XtraDB by default for InnoDB tables)
Kymenvironment: Centos 6.9, Apache v2.4.25, PHP 5.6.30/xCache, MariaDB 10.22 -- vB5 Connect Licensed

My provider say that: changing the Storage Engine will not fix an mySQL Syntax Error. This Error must be solved within your software.
So what to do to fix the syntax?
Please some quickly answer because I'm desperate, I have my forum closed from just 10 days, loosing all the users I had...Last edited by markoroots; Wed 27 Apr '16, 8:09am.Comment

I've been away. MariaDB is a plugin replacement for MySQL and supports all standard MySQL functionality needed for vB.
When you convert from MySQL to MariaDB nothing changes, i.e. MyISAM and InnoDB tables stay the same.
Everything should work as is.
Once converted, I then changed table types, again it all worked as is.
As long as you have the latest 10.0.x or 10.1.x it works, FYI 10.1.8 had issues (current is 10.1.14)
We need full details of any error message to diagnose.environment: Centos 6.9, Apache v2.4.25, PHP 5.6.30/xCache, MariaDB 10.22 -- vB5 Connect Licensed
