Delete Tags in 4.2.2

Q: What would be the SQL query(s) to delete all the tags? I've searched these forums and found various suggestions for previous versions, and information saying these older suggested queries don't work on 4.2.

I've used permissions and promotions to ensure only the folks I want can create tags, so now I want to clear out all the 250+ pages of tags and start anew. Thanks in advance for any recommendation you may have.

I found/tried TRUNCATE TABLE vb_tag on our test server and it seemed to work. Now, the question with that is, is that the right way? Does that cause problems?
