[Forum] Missing threads... returning later

We are experiencing a weird problem in our forum.

Yesterday, some users told me that some posts and even threads from the day before were missing.

I looked in the admin and mod logs and there was no evidence of neither of them deleting posts.
Apparently, it wasn't an intrussion either.
No rollback was commited.

The weird thing is that today all missing posts and threads from the day before yesterday are back... but now some posts from yesterday are missing.

What could be happening?

We are using Vbulletin 4.2.2 and it's the first time i see something like this.

From the description I would say that you were somehow using an old database, or a db server that wasn't up to date. Then you switched back and the old threads came back, but now the ones from yesterday are missing because they went into the old database.
