    Moving threads and SEO

I want to move a bunch of specific topic threads into their own, newly created forums on my site. So for example, I have a car forum so all threads on the topic of "wheels" would now go into a new specific forum called "Wheels," etc. I am wondering what the proper way to do this is, from an SEO stand point? Can I just simply move them and the search engines will figure it out or is there some tweak I can do to help them? Also, does it matter if I leave a permanent redirect? Thanks in advance!

The links that linked to them, unless you're using something like vbseo/DBSEO and have gone out of your way to remove the topic ids, will still work. Redirects (in the software options) won't make any difference.
