[Forum] Human verification with lost password issue

    Running 4.2.0 PL 3

If a user goes to the lost password page and on their first attempt enters either an invalid email address OR an incorrect answer to the human verification question (Q&A method used), they get to an error page telling them this. If they then use their browser's back button to go back to the lost password page, on all subsequent attempts they get an error that the human verification answer they supplied is incorrect, even when it is correct. If they reload the lost password page after going back to it, the problem does not occur. We get LOTS of complaints for this - people saying that the correct answer they supplied isn't accepted.

In general, on a forum users should not really use the back button in the browser unless the software prompts them to.

You might want to consider altering the relevant phrase to include a "back" link, to discourage this behaviour.
It's quite normal with online forms to have the back button not work properly.

However, there is really no technical reason why using the back button in this case should not work. It's a simple form with two fields on it and a submit button. Come on, it's easy to make that work no matter how you get there. Trying to stop user use of the back button in an instance like this is not a solution, it's a cop out.

That is how the form in vB4 is I'm afraid. You are welcome to submit an improvement request in the tracker but if I'm honest I don't see it changing any time soon...it's been the way it is now for almost ten years.

I know that's not much help if it's an issue to you, but if I'm honest it's the first time I've seen the problem reported.
