[Forum] Search Queue Updates doesnt exist in 4.2 scheduled tasks

Since Mark decided to slap my hand and close the top ranked Google result for the query I did, here is the point i was trying to make.

In the VB4 ( my version ) options it says:

    Queue Search Updates
Queue updates for search? Queued updates means that changes to searchable content will not be immediately reflected in search results, but can improve the response time for users making edits on larger boards. If you turn this on, ensure that the "Search Queue Updates" scheduled task is also enabled for it to work correctly.
There is NO "Search Queue Updates" scheduled task

    So Ill say it again:

In mine its called queueprocessor and it has no description ans NOT editable
Ill add that its on by default

Hopefully these notes will help the next person that is searching for answers on this topic.

Since IB is busy pushing the next version of VB, while most of its sites still run VB3,
This is unlikely to get fixed in the cpanel interface. Its also been left out of the or the documentation

This thread will likely get closed too ....

He closed it because he wanted you to start your own thread, not because of what you said, it wasnt a slap, simply start your own threads when you ask for help, a simple reference to the old thread will suffice.

Why would this thread get closed? You replied to a 3 year old thread that will have been for a version far earlier than you're running. Given that, we always ask users to open their own thread for support with their issue on the version they're running. If you DO create that thread, like you have here, we're hardly going to close it instead of giving you support...

With regards to your issue, while the task is not editable, can you delete it OK? Have you tried creating a new task referencing the same Cron file?

It wasn't a support request - Simply a report that the documentation (notes) in the admincp and the manual on the website are wrong.
The reason I put the response in that thread was that was the number one Google ranked thread for my search query. To try to make it easier for the next guy who doesn't want to put in a support request - he just wants to find the answer.

I'm not sure why it keeps being said that the previous thread was for a version earlier that what Im running. There is no reference to version number past 4.x in the thread. They are running 4.x and Im running 4.x... The problem I had is likely in all versions of 4.x.
Im guess you are assuming its older simply based on the date of the thread. Im sure 4.2 didn't exist then but Ill be willing to bet that the adminCP notes and the documentation have been wrong since 4.0 beta, and it hasnt changed.

I know that I can delete the cron. Are you saying that the cron I found that was created by a clean install of 4.2, is incorrect and needs to be deleted and replaced with a cron that does the same thing but is named differently ?

Now that you have appropriately trained and disciplined your long time customer - is there any chance the either the install routine or the documentation will be updated ?

There are dozens of new installations and upgrades being done every week, some by staff, others by customers and this is the only occurrence I can recall seeing since that last thread (although I haven't searched to see any occurrences I've missed). If this was an inherent problem, I'm sure we'd have seen significantly more discussion on this and Bugs raised.

A quick search for 'queueprocessor' within the Tracker shows no Bugs raised regarding this which would indicate an isolated issue. The only way a bug will be fixed within the software is if a Bug's raised.

Regarding your issue, it's possible there was a corruption of the entry into the database for some reason but without looking into it deeper on your site/server, I can't give you a definitive answer. If you want to raise a support ticket for us to look into, please do.
