[Forum] want change my forum root

hi to all i want my forum root
example.com
TO
example.com/forum
can it will effect on my forum traffic or not ?
i want install vbadvanced cmps so i want change my forum root
and what will procedure for change root i just upload all files in forum folder ?
i will need to run upgrade procedure after upload files in forum folder ?
plz anyone can guide to me

You want to move your site from example.com to example.com/forum? Then go to AdminCP > Settings > Options > Site Name/URL/etc > Forum URL and change it to example.com/forum and then move all the files into the /forum directory.

Well, google will have to reindex your site.

i did as you said i move all files in the forum folder but when open
example.com it show me FORUM folder but when i click on forum folder or browse example.com/forum it show me NOT FOUND

old was www.example.com and new is www.example.com/forum
when i search in google and click on link that show not found
is there any way to rdirect all old link of threads and posts to new links via .htaccess
