[Forum] how to clean in installation

    hello

i'm with the vbulletin 4.0 since the day one, and it was my first experience with vbulletin.
then I always did my updates, but i did not understand that i need to remove some files during after an update (older files) so not only it make my installation heavier but also it can be a threat for the security.

i heard that most of the vbulletin is the database.

I have some small template edit and just few mods.

How i can make a clean installation like the day one without lose the thread, members and settings?

    thank you

You can rename the old forum directory to forum_old and upload the vBulletin files to new directory with the old name forum
then copy /forum_old/includes/config.php to /forum/includes/config.php and also copy images folder if you store avatars as on file system.
if you have any additional files from plugins you should disable or remove plugin from AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products
    then run upgrade script.

You're welcome, by default vBulletin don't have that folder check if you've attachments stored in file system maybe, and Yes and modification on the templates always saved in the database.

I just done the steps that you told me, i restore also the attachments and the images.

It seems to work fine the only problem is that i can not perform any of the batch (diagnostic) part.

also the same behaviour is when i try to install/remove a plugin/product.

It may be related to the folders and files permissions?

This is the error on the error_ log:

[Sat Feb 16 07:32:00 2013] [error] [client 110.xxx.xxx.xxx] SoftException in Application.cpp:256: File "/home/xxxxxx/public_html/admincp/diagnostic.php" is writeable by group, referer: http://www.xxxxxxx.cxx/admincp/diagnostic.php?do=list

              the referer change accordnly

              - - - Updated - - -

i solved, modify files permission to 644
