[Forum] Exclude Forums from What's New

Hello,

I'm looking for a way to exclude certain forums from the What's new search and the getdaily search. I found this thread in the tips and tricks section but I don't seem to be able to find the quoted code in any of my templates. I would appreciate any help you could offer.

Its been posted numerous times, did you search?

You will need to modify a few templates & add an exclude statement to the end of the search url.

If you are using vBulletin 4.2, You can edit link from Navigation Manager
AdminCP->Settings->Navigation Manager
click on What's New? Tab and edit New Posts link
Edit Target URL to :

search.php?{session.sessionurl}do=getnew&exclude=[COLOR=#ff0000][B]X,Y,Z[/B][/COLOR]&contenttype=vBForum_Post

replace x,y,z with excluded forum IDs and save it,

Are you sure I can replace activity.php{session.sessionurl_q} with search.php?{session.sessionurl}do=getnew&exclude=X,Y,Z&contenttype=vBForum_Post. I see that it calls activity.php in the original

That post is talking about editng the "New Posts" link under "What's New". The "New Posts" link calls search.php (unless you changed it for some reason).
