[Forum] Disable friend requests on a per user basis?

Hi, I have some users that do not wish to make us of the friend system.

Is there any way they can turn off friend requests in their settings? These users to not wish to receive friend requests.

I had a look and I can't see anything.

This is really annoying some of my users who do not wish to receive these requests. They have told me that they do not come to forums to make friends and do not wish to have to explain themselves every time someone makes a friend request.

Are there are any plans to enable users to turn friend requests off like they can with visitor messaging? I can't imagine it would be that difficult to implement?

There are no plans to change this.

What you could do (and indeed I did a few years ago to deal with this issue) is create a custom profile field as an option to turn off the friends list, and then use this in template conditionals to hide the relevant links.

For help with this, you would need to post on www.vblletin.org, the modifications site, but it is definitely possible to implement.
