Well, that is the problem. Your emails are all queued and waiting to be sent.
Check your settings in AdminCP > Settings > Options > Email Options like Number of Emails to send per batch. Default is 10 and most servers can handle more than just 10 every 10 minutes (the default time for the Scheduled Task to run).
