[Forum] Does vbulletin 4.2.0 have the ability to quote only a selected part of a post?

And if so how do I do this? Thanks.

If the post in full looks like this:

"Now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of their country. But the country needs all good people."

But I want to only quote:

"Now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of their country."

      Is this possible without editing?

You would have to edit the quote. How would the forum software know what part of the quote you wanted to exclude?

In the past, before Vbulletin with a different forum software, I just highlighted the text I wished to quote then clicked the quote button. Even with VBulletin 3.7 a mod let you do this. I just thought it would be included in the 4.2.0 version by now this many years later. Thanks for clarifying this for me.

If you don't want to quote the entire person's post, just erase what you don't want.

For example, I just erased some of yours now.

I understand this thank you. But it is much easier to highlight a few words that you wish to quote than trying to find the text you wish to quote then delete all the unwanted text both before and after it in a 1000 word post.

In that case, you should ask over on vBulletin.org Forum.

That would be a nice feature.

BTW here's the modification that works with 3.x.

This would be useful but what if I want to quote separately 3 different phrases of a big post? In this case the mod would never know if it has to quote them together or separately. This might be done but with more options, more people will want more features.

Well it's a nice mode but it has its limitations such as: Does NOT work with the WYSIWYG quick reply editor.

www.vbulletin.org will be the best place to ask for this kind of modification.

For those who care I found this mod on vbulletin.org. I have it installed and working on 4.2.0 patch 2
