    4.2.2 Patch Level 2

Just to be clear if you're already running 4.2.2 level 1, all I would need to do is upload 4.2.2 level 2 files too the server and overwrite the current files, and no need to to run the upgrade script, am I correct.

Hello, in members area under 'Patches/Security Patches' the latest version I see is Security patch: 4.2.2 Forum PL1. Shouldn't the PL2 link be here too? Thanks.

No, you have to download the full package.

Which full package would one download? We are already running 4.2.2pl1 and that is the highest number in the download area. There is no 4.2.2pl2.

I just checked your account - if you login to the members.vbulletin.com area and click to Download vB4 Publishing Suite, the default is to "Download Latest Version 4.2.2 Patch Level 2"

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

Am I going to need to edit the config.php.new file in /includes so that it matches my current config.php file, or should I just upload the config.php.new file that's part of the patch without making any edits at all?

                    Use your old config file.
The blank one in the download package is called config.php.new, so it won't overwrite your existing one.
If you had no problems with your existing file, stick with that.

It would have helpful to have actually been notified of the latest security release by email.

Here is a list of files to replace that I could find using a diff, if anyone is looking to patch:

                        admincp/apilog.php
                        admincp/apistats.php
                        admincp/diagnostic.php
                        includes/class_vurl.php
                        includes/functions.php
                        includes/functions_misc.php
                        includes/version_vbulletin.php
                        includes/api/1/api_init.php
                        includes/api/4/breadcrumbs_create.php
                        includes/api/5/api_init.php
                        includes/api/7/api_init.php

It seems like vBulletin is becoming less and less bothered with version 4.

The person who would normally deal with the vBulletin 4 patching is out this week. Instead of waiting longer to release the patch, we released the fix as a full version.

                            The release was last week.

Zachery's explanation is the genuine reason it was done this way. It's not going to change. I'm unsure why you're trying to pick tiny holes in it. This week/next week/last week, doesn't matter, the person who would normally have made a separate patch wasn't here when we needed to release it. Rather than leave sites at risk we released a full build.

The point I made seems to be missed in relation to not receiving a security advisory by email, and vbulletin's lack lustre attitude to version 4.

PHP 5.3 reached end of life in August, and yet we are still waiting on a beta to become stable in vbulletin 4.2.3 with fixes for PHP 5.4 and PHP 5.5.
