Database error, cant view site.

    [CMS] Database error, cant view site.

    I have just suddenly been presented with this error -

    Database error in vBulletin :

    mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</a>]: Too many connections

    this means the setting max_connections is set at a limit lower than your site needs, you will need to raise that limit in my.cnf if this is a vps/dedicated server.

      It's usually fine, im downloading a database which is currently at 267mb and counting, could that be the culprit?

        Yes, if you currently dumping a db from a live site, each table will lock for dumping.

        Always close your site before dumping the db.
