[CMS] Don't understand - mulitple questions

Okay, it all started like this:
I asked someone what they thought of my site, and they said that they didn't like all of the selections on the CMS home page. So I removed the selections, and created a category widget for direction, which was fine. However today I decided that I didn't like how the category manager looked. I had every article for the CMS on the main category of NEWS on my site. It looked like it still does, so let me give you an example with a pic.

All of the items that you see that are numbered are suppose to show up on the main NEWS page, and the other items that are not numbered are suppose to be in the category I selected for them, such as Guitar, Keys, Brass, etc.

So I decided to start making selections using the Selection Manager, I published them after messing around but that did not do any good. Basically I'm lost at this point! I wish I would have never messed with it, but I was trying to make things simplified, which isn't working for me! BTW- the manual is helpful but not detailed enough for me to really get a grasp of why my CMS page is so messed up right not. Let me show you a pic of what I'm talking about, you can also check it out on my site if you like: http://www.place4musicians.com Basically the articles showing are not suppose to be there but only be in the category widget that I have.

In this simple pic you will see two red boxes, that come with two questions!!

1st question, why is it showing the author when I specified for it not to?
2nd question, is why is it located on the home page of the CMS?

The next question that I have is this: How do I delete and or remove a section?

As you can see the first time I tried to add the categories I had them all located under the "About Us", so I made the categories again in the correct place, but I can't remove the old ones! Basically I'm lost and my CMS is messed up and I have a week before I go 100% with the forum. Please someone tell me how to correct this! I'm lost right now!

Thanks for any help you can provide to get me back on track. I feel like I really messed things up with just a few little changes that didn't work for me.

To delete sections: adminCP > vBulletin CMS > Section Manager > then next to each section you will see a green icon, a pencil icon, and possibly a red icon. The red icon is to delete the section. The red icon will only appear if there is NO content associated with that section. Therefore sections can only be deleted when it is empty. If you have articles (content) that are placed in any of the sections you want deleted then you either need to move that content to a different section or delete the content.

1st question Author issue: If you have edited the actual article and selected 'no' to displaying the author then I suggest you try this: adminCP > Maintenance > Clear System Cache, and see if that works.

2nd question: The home page of the CMS will either contain content from that section only, or content from all sub-sections. You cannot chose specific sub-sections to display on the home page. It's none or all.

I hope that helps answer some of your questions???

Thanks GamerPerfection I'll start trying to clear out the areas where I don't see the red mark to delete the area. This is kind of what I want as far as question 2 goes.

News: General News (what's on the home page)
Categories: articles that are on specific topics but not on the home page.
Last thing I would like is for there to be multiple pages on the home CMS page, but if that is not possible then I will have to increase the number of articles present on the home page.

Could you give me a general instruction into setting it up this way? Everything is showing up on the home page, and that is not what I want.

      Thanks for the help!
