ok i have been reading and learning as much as can and am about to set up my first vB forum (2nd form overall)
i have some very clear structure needs and would like suggestions to make sure I'm doing this all the best way first.
please if there is thread that answer some of these questions, please send me there, i have been searching all day and have learned a lot, still assumed i missed even more.
I'm going to number my questions and needs so that replies to a specific thing can reference that number
-i have a user base will be coming together from a large number of local based IRL groups (most with paid, applied for, yearly memberships)
-i will have two types of areas, "IRL Local Group" area , and "Common Overlap" areas
"local groups":
"Common Areas":
a few extra questions:

-i have a user base will be coming together from a large number of local based IRL groups (most with paid, applied for, yearly memberships)
-i will have two types of areas, "IRL Local Group" area , and "Common Overlap" areas
"local groups":
- [*=1]1. I will need to have for each group a forum area (probably the same set of forums for each group or at least starting out that way) that is only accessible by that group. (it will the the job of a mod in each group to give me the ok for each member based on their IRL group membership status)
[*=1]2. access list will need to be updated yearly
[*=1]3. there should be one thread in each "local group forum" that allows for visitors or prospective members to ask questions.
[*=1]4. in a perfect world when someone registers for the site in general, they should get a list to denote IRL group affiliation (pending moderator confirmation)
[*=1]5 .folks could possibly, but rarely, belong to more than one IRL group.
[*=1]6. Group affiliation should be listed under their user name
"Common Areas":
this area would behave much like a normal forum
- [*=1]7. there are links that again in a perfect world I would link to different places depending on a persons local group affiliation. (i like to "Find Doctors in Your Area" would go to the Doctors sub forum that they have permission to post in) ***i assume this is the hardest request and i can live without it
[*=1]8. common areas posters would not need to be a member of a local group, but i would like to restrict privileges based on that (no picture posting for example)
a few extra questions:
- [*=1]9. is there a way to copy and replicate a large number of forum and sub forums without doing it 1 by 1?
[*=1]10. is there a way to tag local group forum sets with a zip code and let people look up with ones are nearest to them?
Comment:
- [*=1]10. i believe that "Social Groups" would not work for me at all. Because in part, of its lack of sub structure, a real shortcoming. do you folks agree?
[*=1]11. i will also be doing other parts the the site, calendars, main pages, news, reviews, classifieds, possibly a editors blog
