[Forum] 265 Users awaiting Email Confirmation

Mostly Hotmail email addresses, not receiving the confirmation email.

What the heck do I do about this?

That's a lot of users not able to verify their accounts because the email isn't landing in their inbox.

I have no idea what I can do to fix this problem moving forward.

If it's only a problem with hotmail addresses, they may have your server blocked. Someone else was discussing that here: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...nder-ID-etc%29 (although I'm not sure there's anything in that thread that will help you).

Check the email account that you're sending emails from, because Hotmail generally sends out a MAILER DAEMON notice. You'd need to go here if this is the case: https://support.msn.com/eform.aspx?p...eformts&scrx=1

Be advised, Microsoft has been known to take weeks to complete requests like this.

Is there a possibility that a majority of these are spam accounts and the bots that registered them are not equipped to get past the email validation step? Have you had lots of users complain via a contact form about not being able to complete registration?

Hotmail has problems receiving emails from setups where you have MX records changed (similar to what googleapps requires or custom modified mail servers). Make sure your server is not one of those.

No they're not spam accounts, they're legit.

I have the same issue with Verizon. I contacted them over the years and they always say we are not blocking you. But they are doing something because no one receives our notifications from verizon.
When I first switched over to vb4, I had a lot of trouble like this so what I found is changing the wording in the verification notification header fixed this.
              Cheers!

I have never used email verifications. Perhaps your best option is to turn that feature off.

So you let any schmo sign up without verifying if their email is correct? That's just stupid.

Can you be more specific? I'd like to know.

No I use several methods to disallow spammers from registering, email verification is not one of them.

Here's what I do to prevent spammers from registering.

It's naive to think that email-verification is actually an effective tool. Spam-bots are extremely advanced these days and are only becoming more advanced.

                      Best,
