There is no problem besides the fact we're not redirecting people to the non www domain.

When you login to vbulletin.com (www or no www) all of the login data is set to our base url as defined in the vbulletin options.

So your login data is sent to http://www.vbulletin.com from http://vbulletin.com. As far as your browser is concerned these are two different domains. Cookies are set but not for the domain you're viewing.

I have the same issue but I used it to my advantage, I could check my site as a guest without logging out (simply go to my URL without the www)
On my new server, it doesn't matter if I used www or not.

You can fix that from CPanel. That would be the simplest way. I don't like to rely on .htaccess much as one of the servers don't like it much
To be or not to be... Where the hell is the question????

          Redirection is the best solution.

You can also try setting the cookie domain to .yourdomain.com. However for some people this prevents them from logging in completely. Though it depends on the version of the browser.
