As the title suggests, i'm investigating moving to a VPS which should hopefully cure my Face Book connection problem.
Anyway, a couple of questions, I want to approach this in the right manner, i'm not a web wizard by any means and will be taking the necessary safety steps in order to achieve my goal and creating a test site and attempting to upload a saved database before the move.
Reading the info i reckon i've got the steps in the correct order, but......
1) Changing the Urls, obviously i change the forum Url to the vbtest site, i have no other urls as such apart from the Home page, do i need to change that for the test site?
2) I see many notes to change the cookie prefix in the config.php, the default is bb, is it a simple task of just giving it any name i want? like, cc and then any log ins on the test site will carry the cc pre fix in?
3) I created a database on my host site to which i installed the forums and my web site etc, this is backed up every day and I can back up the MySQL anytime i want, does this database contain all the forum info and is the file i upload to restore the database via the host back up, or, must i use something else?
Will possibly have more questions as these get answered, so, thanks in advance for your patience to help me get moved
