    [Forum] Update Counters

When I delete all of a users posts (prune) before deleting the actual user, the ACP says "you should update counters now" with the word update counters being a text link to the Maintenance section.

Can you please specify exactly which of the myriads of update tools this is referring to, as there is none called "update counters" in there.

    Thanks

    In newer versions it is:

AdminCP > Maintenance > General Update Tools

It was formerly Maintenance > Update Counters

What you see shown on the "General Update Tools" page is actually the update counters page per say .

I think he means which of the updates to run-

I usually run the update for threads, then forums, in that order.

BirdOPrey - yes that's what I was asking.

Can you please specify exactly which of the myriads of update tools this is referring to, as there is none called "update counters" in there.
        Is Bird correct?

I usually run the update for threads, then forums, in that order
        Please advise. Thanks!

Sorry just to be more specific. Do I *only* need to update "Threads" and "Forums" (in that order) ? Or also everything else on the page?

Deleting a user also deletes individual posts within existing threads.

Please consider modifying that text too "You should update counters". there are tons of update tools on that page, none of them are titled "Counter" ... and it takes a long long time to do them all.

If a user has something like 500 posts, and they're all deleted, should the search index be updated too?

            Anything else?

Sorry, again - there is no update tool titled "User Information".

                There is

                User Titles and Ranks
                User Profiles
                User Reputation
                User Names

Can you clarify which one you are referring to? Or all of them?

Phew. So deleting one user results in a bunch of maintenance update processes that can take over a half hour of manual effort.

                    Hm.

If you want everything to be up to date. This is the primary reason why we don't delete users on this site.

When is this going to be fixed:

From post #6: Please consider modifying that text too "You should update counters".

Why was the menu changed and not the text? Is there a QC process that should of caught this? How long ago was this change made?
                        Looks like an easy fix...

                        Example: Settings/Message Attachment Options
                        Thumbnail Size
Maximum width and height that the thumbnail can have. The image will be proportionately resized so that the longest side is no larger than this setting. If you change this setting, you will need to go to Maintenance -> Update Counters -> Rebuild Attachment Thumbnails.
